The video below is our drawer base cabinet assembly video (as used for the DB24). The VDB1821 goes together exactly the same way — the only difference is that it is 21" deep instead of 24". Use the video as your guide, with the written steps underneath.
Written Assembly Steps
Build the cabinet box
- Lay the front face on a soft surface with the dovetail grooves facing up — these grooves receive the bottom panel.
- Slide the side panels into the dovetail grooves on the front face until the dovetails line up and fully engage.
- Slide the bottom panel into the grooves on the side panels.
- Slide the back panel into the grooves on the bottom and side panels until flush, with the clips fully engaged.
- Stand the cabinet upright, fit a metal corner brace into each of the 4 top corners and screw the braces to the panels to lock everything square.
- Clip the front and back toe-kick plates to the side panels until the clips fully engage.
Build & fit the three drawers (repeat for each)
- Lay a drawer front grooves-up and slide the drawer side panels into its dovetail grooves until flush (tap with a mallet if needed).
- Slide the drawer bottom in with the finished side up, then attach the drawer back panel — dovetails fully engaged.
- Screw the drawer-member slides to the drawer sides through the pre-drilled holes.
- Fit the cabinet-member slides: push the barbed dowels into the back panel’s pre-drilled holes, screw the sockets to the back panel, then screw the front of each slide to the side panels through the pre-drilled holes.
- Slide each drawer onto its guides through the front of the cabinet — the standard drawer at the top and the two deep drawers below.
Optional — wood glue for a sturdier finish: A small amount of wood glue in the dovetail joints gives a stronger, more permanent bond. It’s completely optional — many of our regular clients have their own preferred way of building these, and there’s no right or wrong method. Build it the way that works best for you.

RTA (Ready to Assemble) is the best value and ships flat-packed, reducing freight cost and damage risk. Allow 45–75 minutes with standard tools. RTA orders are processed in up to 14 business days — though most are ready within 3–8 business days.
Factory Assembled units arrive pre-built and ready to install. Assembled cabinets are bulkier to ship, so freight can be higher. Factory assembled orders are processed in up to 21 business days — typically 10–15 business days on average. Contact us — we can often reduce freight costs, especially on larger orders.
How many drawers does the VDB1821 have?
Three working drawers — one standard drawer on top and two deep drawers below. The drawer boxes are three-quarter-inch solid wood with dovetail joinery on undermount soft-close glides. There are no doors or shelves.
How deep is the VDB1821?
The VDB1821 is 21 inches deep — the standard depth for a bathroom vanity, shallower than the 24-inch DB kitchen drawer base cabinets.
How do I assemble the VDB1821?
Follow the drawer base cabinet video on the product page — the same one used for our 24-inch deep DB drawer bases — and the written VDB1821 steps below it. It goes together exactly the same way; the only difference is the 21-inch depth. Allow 45–75 minutes with a drill and a rubber mallet.
Is the VDB1821 solid wood or particle board?
The VDB1821 box is half-inch solid plywood and the face frame is solid maple/birch — no particle board. The drawer boxes are three-quarter-inch solid wood with dovetail joinery; the drawer fronts are HDF with a solid wood shaker profile.

Vanity cabinets are usually completed with a few finishing pieces. Most orders for this cabinet include:
- TK8 Toe Kick — sold in 8′ strips. Installed over the structural toe kicks to cover seams and make the toe kick area one continuous surface across the vanity run.
- BF3 (3") or BF6 (6") Base Fillers — close gaps between cabinets, or between cabinets and walls. Both can be trimmed in height and/or width on installation.
- TUK Touch-Up Kit — recommended with every cabinet order. Covers any nicks or scratches picked up during assembly or installation, and normal wear-and-tear over the cabinet's lifetime.
Installing on an island or open run? If the back of this cabinet will be exposed, finish it with:
- SPW Skin Panel — a 36" × 96" panel that covers exposed cabinet backs. It can be trimmed on installation, depending on the needs of the remodel.
- OCS8 Outside Corner Molding — covers the raw corner where the back panel meets the cabinet box for a clean, finished end.
End of a run with an exposed side?
- MVEPBH Matching Vanity End Panel — a decorative panel for exposed vanity sides at the end of a run. Dresses the exposed side to match the cabinet faces for an elevated, premium finish.
