The VB1221 is a 12"-wide single door vanity base cabinet — 21" deep and 34.5" tall — with one working soft-close dovetail drawer over a single door hinged left or right, and one adjustable shelf inside. Solid plywood box, dovetail drawer box, soft-close everything. No particle board. Available ready-to-assemble (RTA) or factory pre-built.

At $218.11 RTA vs. the $382.32 MSRP — about 43% off — it's trade-quality construction at a price that keeps your bathroom remodel on budget.

💡 Built for 21" Vanity Depth. Use it beside a sink base to add a bank of drawer and door storage, or as a narrow filler run in a bathroom. Because it is only 21" deep, roll-out trays and trash can pull-out accessories will not fit — those are sized for 24" deep kitchen base cabinets. Inside you get one adjustable shelf. Door and drawer bumpers included.

The video below is our standard base cabinet assembly video. The VB1221 goes together the same way — the only differences are that it is 21" deep instead of 24", and it has a single door and a single drawer. Use the video as your guide, with the written steps underneath.

Written Assembly Steps

Build the cabinet box

  1. Lay the front face on a soft surface with the dovetail grooves facing up — these grooves receive the bottom panel.
  2. Slide the side panels into the dovetail grooves on the front face until the dovetails line up and fully engage.
  3. Slide the bottom panel into the grooves on the side panels.
  4. Slide the back panel into the grooves on the bottom and side panels until flush, with the clips fully engaged.
  5. Stand the cabinet upright, fit a metal corner brace into each of the 4 top corners and screw the braces to the panels to lock everything square.
  6. Clip the front and back toe-kick plates to the side panels until the clips fully engage.

Build & fit the drawer

  1. Lay the drawer front grooves-up and slide the drawer side panels into its dovetail grooves until flush (tap with a mallet if needed).
  2. Slide the drawer bottom in with the finished side up, then attach the drawer back panel — dovetails fully engaged.
  3. Screw the drawer-member slides to the drawer sides through the pre-drilled holes.
  4. Fit the cabinet-member slides: push the barbed dowels into the back panel’s pre-drilled holes, screw the sockets to the back panel, then screw the front of each slide to the side panels through the pre-drilled holes.
  5. Slide the drawer onto its guides through the front of the cabinet.
  6. Push the shelf clips into the side-panel holes at the height you want and slide in the shelf, finished front edge facing out.

Optional — wood glue for a sturdier finish: A small amount of wood glue in the dovetail joints gives a stronger, more permanent bond. It’s completely optional — many of our regular clients have their own preferred way of building these, and there’s no right or wrong method. Build it the way that works best for you.

Measurement Value
Exterior Width 12"
Exterior Depth 21" (vanity depth)
Exterior Height 34.5"
Door One, hinged left (L) or right (R)
Working Drawers One, on top
Shelves One adjustable, ¾"
Drawer Box ¾" solid wood, dovetail
Roll-outs / Trash Pull-outs Not compatible (21" depth)
Door Overlay Full

All measurements are nominal. Allow ±1/8" tolerance. Roll-out trays and trash can pull-out accessories are sized for 24" deep kitchen base cabinets and will not fit this 21" deep vanity cabinet.

  • Box: ½" solid plywood — no particle board. Resists swelling and holds screws well — important in a bathroom environment.
  • Face Frame: Solid wood, not MDF.
  • Door: One full-overlay shaker door (HDF construction with a solid wood shaker profile), hinged left or right.
  • Drawer: One working drawer on top.
  • Drawer Box: ¾" solid wood with dovetail joinery on undermount soft-close glides.
  • Hinge: European-style soft-close concealed hinges, 6-way adjustable.
  • Interior: Color-matched box and shelf, natural drawer interior. One ¾" adjustable shelf. Door and drawer bumpers included.

RTA (Ready to Assemble) is the best value and ships flat-packed, reducing freight cost and damage risk. Allow 45–75 minutes with standard tools. RTA orders are processed in up to 14 business days — though most are ready within 3–8 business days.

Factory Assembled units arrive pre-built and ready to install. Assembled cabinets are bulkier to ship, so freight can be higher. Factory assembled orders are processed in up to 21 business days — typically 10–15 business days on average. Contact us — we can often reduce freight costs, especially on larger orders.

Will a roll-out tray or trash can pull-out fit in the VB1221?
No. The VB1221 is a 21-inch deep vanity cabinet, and our roll-out tray and trash can pull-out accessories are made for 24-inch deep kitchen base cabinets, so they will not fit. The cabinet comes with one adjustable shelf for storage behind the door.

Can the VB1221 door be hinged on the left or right?
Yes. Factory assembled units are ordered hinged left (L) or right (R). The RTA version can be set up either way during assembly — the hinges mount on whichever side suits your layout.

How deep is the VB1221?
The VB1221 is 21 inches deep — the standard depth for a bathroom vanity, shallower than a 24-inch kitchen base cabinet.

How do I assemble the VB1221?
Follow the standard base cabinet video on the product page for the general method, and the written VB1221 steps below it. It goes together the same way as a kitchen base cabinet; the differences are the 21-inch depth and a single door and drawer. Allow 45–75 minutes with a drill and a rubber mallet.

Is the VB1221 solid wood or particle board?
The VB1221 box is half-inch solid plywood and the face frame is solid maple/birch — no particle board. The drawer box is three-quarter-inch solid wood with dovetail joinery; the door is HDF with a solid wood shaker profile.

What is the return policy?
Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery on unassembled cabinets in original packaging. Unwanted returns are subject to return shipping and a 25% restocking fee. Damaged or defective items are handled on a priority basis.

Vanity cabinets are usually completed with a few finishing pieces. Most orders for this cabinet include:

  • TK8 Toe Kick — sold in 8′ strips. Installed over the structural toe kicks to cover seams and make the toe kick area one continuous surface across the vanity run.
  • BF3 (3") or BF6 (6") Base Fillers — close gaps between cabinets, or between cabinets and walls. Both can be trimmed in height and/or width on installation.
  • TUK Touch-Up Kit — recommended with every cabinet order. Covers any nicks or scratches picked up during assembly or installation, and normal wear-and-tear over the cabinet's lifetime.

Installing on an island or open run? If the back of this cabinet will be exposed, finish it with:

  • SPW Skin Panel — a 36" × 96" panel that covers exposed cabinet backs. It can be trimmed on installation, depending on the needs of the remodel.
  • OCS8 Outside Corner Molding — covers the raw corner where the back panel meets the cabinet box for a clean, finished end.

End of a run with an exposed side?

  • MVEPBH Matching Vanity End Panel — a decorative panel for exposed vanity sides at the end of a run. Dresses the exposed side to match the cabinet faces for an elevated, premium finish.
